Any time there is an update to our COVID-19 safety protocols and policies, we will direct you to this page.

Due to the continued changing nature of COVID-19, safety protocols and policies may change as needed. We will update this page as an internal resource for our clients. It will always have the latest information regarding our COVID-19 policies and safety protocols.

Illness Policy

Signs of Illness

If a client is sent home from therapy, or calls in sick to therapy, if it’s not COVID-19, they will be allowed to return once they are fever free for 24 hours and the absence of symptoms that could impede therapy treatment.

For confirmed COVID-19 cases or possible COVID-19, please see the specific protocols below.

If your child tests positive for COVID-19 but has no symptoms:

If your child continues to have no symptoms, they may return to therapy after 5 days of isolation have passed since their positive test. Most people do not require testing to decide when they can be around others; however, if your healthcare provider recommends testing, they will let you know when you can resume being around others based on your test results.

If you think or know your child had COVID-19, and they have symptoms:

They may return to therapy after:

  • 5 days since symptoms first appeared and
  • 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and
  • Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving

**Clearance by a medical professional may be required for serious signs of illness during this time. We will not order a COVID-19 test, that is at the discretion of your child’s Physician.

COVID-19 Exposure:

Clients who have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, parents should monitor their child for signs or symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days. It is encouraged (but not required) that those who have a known or suspected exposure to COVID-19 should wear a well-fitting mask for 10 days from their last exposure.

How do you distinguish between symptoms of the seasonal allergies versus the coronavirus?

It’s difficult.  If symptoms start to worsen or progress, you’re probably not dealing with an allergy but something more serious. Refer to  policies above.

COVID-19 Notifications:

Effective April 25, 2022 – Based on updated guidance from the Oakland County Health Department, Healing Haven will no longer conduct individual contact tracing, which is no longer suggested by any state or local agencies.

Sanitizing & Hand Washing:

Stringent sanitation measures and regular hand washing will remain in place before, during, and after therapy sessions.
