What Is Occupational Therapy?

Skills for Life—Built Through Play

Occupational therapy (OT) helps children with autism and other developmental delays build the foundation for independence in everyday life. That might mean learning to hold a pencil, manage a morning routine, follow a classroom schedule, or stay calm in overstimulating situations.

At Healing Haven, our licensed Occupational Therapists design individualized sessions that blend structure with play—helping kids grow their motor skills, emotional regulation, and executive function through meaningful, engaging activities.

Movement, Motivation, and Measurable Growth

Our OT services are delivered in sensory-friendly environments and tailored to your child’s goals. Here’s how we help:

Pair OT With ABA and Speech for Holistic Progress

Our OT team collaborates closely with behavior analysts and speech-language pathologists to reinforce shared goals and create a well-rounded therapy experience. For individuals receiving multiple services at Healing Haven, this approach minimizes overwhelm and accelerates meaningful progress. Parents are also expected to play an active role in their child’s occupational therapy.

Occupational therapy is also available as a standalone service—no referral required.
